Coaching staff

A  native of Pacifica and a SF State University Alumnus, he spent much of his life in High School setting state records and  later at SF State became a 3X NCAA All American In Wrestling with 132 career wins.  Rich is a humbled Individual, as life has taken him through the depths of Drugs and Alcoholism. He lives and breaths sobriety everyday and has been for the past 17 years.  He was introduced to Jiu jitsu as an adult and later found jiu jitsu to be rewarding.   His record is nothing short of an accomplishment. He would go on to Win in the Nogi  Blackbelt Master  Division Ibjjf World Championship in 2023 and prior to won 5 World Titles in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  He lives and breathes the Jiu jitsu lifestyle.   He is competitive by nature and loves to see everyone grow to their full potential.  He’s a very passionate about coaching and his dedication for others speaks for itself.  He Coached Benicia High School Wrestling and participated in their successes for 10 years.  

Head Coach in Concord, Nick Pica - “The Silverback” former Bellator MMA Fighter, CA. State Wresting Champ, Collegiate Athlete and Gracie Blackbelt.  Students are fortunate to have such talent in the room.   He’s a fierce competitor and passionate about developing students. 

Yes! we have our very own Super Hero here at New Creation.  Billy Ray was promoted to Black belt in 2016.  He’s placed in many well known tournaments here in the Bay Area.  Given the name MEGATRON by Michael Bay in 2007 from playing the character in all the Transformers films.  He’s proud to call New Creation his home.  We are thankful to have another Professor share his experience with our students. 

Abraham Sr. is a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu whose journey began in his forties — a time when most people would find starting something new incredibly challenging. During the COVID, with limited options available, he immersed himself fully into training, often attending multiple classes a day and steadily progressing through the ranks. 

Sharing the mat with his children kept him focused and motivated, turning BJJ into both a personal challenge and a family passion. His experience in the United States Marine Corps instilled in him a mindset of discipline, resilience, and commitment, the belief that once you start something, you see it through. This determination and stubborn refusal to quit have driven him to reach levels that once felt far out of reach.

Abraham coaches  Gi in the adult classes, where he finds real fulfillment in helping others progress on their Jiu-Jitsu journey. He takes pride in guiding the next generation of practitioners, passing on not just technique, but the mindset and discipline that Jiu-Jitsu builds.

AJ Ocampo  is a Brown Belt in Jiu Jitsu and Nogi. He’s an experienced MMA Title Fighter,  Jiu jitsu competitor and Kids Muay Thai Coach.  You will always find AJ on the mat training.  

Isaac has been dedicated to martial arts and athletic excellence since early childhood. With over 15 years of training and competition experience, he has earned numerous local, state, regional, and national championship tiles across multiple disciplines in his native country of Mexico, from Taekwondo to Track and Field.

A lifelong and avid student of movement and discipline, Isaac has trained in diverse martial arts like Aikido, Taekwondo, Boxing, and Muay Thai, as well as excelling in track and field, and football (LB). His diverse athletic background has shaped a well-rounded coaching philosophy that emphasizes techique, adaptability and mental toughness both on and off the mats.

As a coach, Isaac is passionate about helping students develop confidence, resilience, and practical knowledge of Jiu-jitsu. Whether helping competitive athletes or beginners taking their first reps on the mats, Isaac brings a blend of technical expertise, motivation, and genuine care for each student's growth.

Coach Joey has spent years studying and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, blending technical precision with a practical, real-world approach to the art. He brings a background in law enforcement and defensive tactics, giving his instruction unique depth in situational awareness, control, and realistic application. Joey is committed to creating a high-level training environment where students feel challenged, supported, and motivated. He emphasizes fundamentals, proper mechanics, and strong mat culture—believing the best academies are built on respect, patience, and continuous improvement.

Tito Pica Head Wrestling Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach in Concord. Tito is an outstanding athlete and mentor to have in the room. He’s very passionate about developing students into top shape. Whether you’re wrestling or looking to be competitive on the mat, he’s your guy!

Tito is a bay area native and graduate of De La Salle High School. His Wrestling accomplishments include 3X North Coast Section Champ. 2X CIF State Medalist.

Francisco is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Rich Goodwin. He’s been a student at New Creation since 2021 and is an early founding member of the ‘parent’s class’, which encourages families to train and progress together. He’s also a black belt in Taekwondo.

Francisco enjoys workshopping techniques and breaking down fight mechanics. You can also find him exploring different martial arts to see how they integrate for a more well rounded point of view. He encourages students to explore their strengths and weaknesses so they may develop their own styles. And he’s more than willing to sit down with students for more personalized instruction and problem solving.

We  are very excited to add Garrett Francis to our coaching staff. He comes to us with a Military background. He’s a Purple Belt in Jiu Jitsu with 10+ years of experience including Wrestling and MMA.   He’s also a Benicia High School Wrestling Coach.  He will be in Benicia on Thursdays covering the Youth Wrestling and Youth Nogi classee.

Demetri Georgiades is a professional MMA fighter and coach with over a decade of combat sports experience. He has trained in wrestling, Muay Thai, and boxing since age 11 and has been competing professionally since 2021. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, Demetri focuses on technical precision, fight IQ, and building well-rounded athletes.
